We invite you to stop by Classic Car West Garage in Oakland and check out “Transience”, an exhibition curated by Off Space. We have our project “Oakland Re:Construction” installed there throughout June and July.
From July 23rd – October 30th “Oakland Re:Construction” will be featured in the exhibition “Oakland I Want You to Know” at the Oakland Museum of California.

The Mobile Arts Platform (MAP) is pleased to present Oakland Re:Construction. For this project MAP artists Peter Foucault and Chris Treggiari will travel under the guise a faux construction team complete with a custom designed work van, safety cones, blueprints and coveralls. They will set up shop in front of existing construction sites throughout the city of Oakland in highly gentrified areas where many residents are currently being displaced. Through a series of interactive strategies and interviews MAP will ask people to share their thoughts on the current transitory nature of the city and what lies ahead for its future. Utilizing a virtual reality camera these stories will be captured in the neighborhood that they took place in and edited into a series of 3-D video clips. These community stories will be collected and installed inside of the van for the duration of the exhibition along with additional interactive projects, creating a “virtual viewing and sharing station”
Here are some responses from the public after our opening last Friday night!
